The students, parents, faculty, and staff celebrated "Cinco de Mayo" with a Spanish Festival. All students, grades PK-8th, participated. Students carried passports that were stamped as they traveled through twenty-two Hispanic countries throughout the world.
The Spanish Festival began with Hispanic food being served to our students and parents for lunch. Next, Mrs. Wantiez's 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes performed a Hispanic dance. Finally, Spanish students in grades 3-8 went to their assigned country tables and the festival began!
Students displayed colorful posters, 3-D maps, and Hispanic art work. Hispanic recipes from many of the 22 countries represented were prepared and served. Middle school Spanish students taught different styles of Hispanic dance, games (indoor and outdoor), and crafts.
Mrs. Null did a presentation about chocolate being from Mexico. Then, the children made a chocolate treat with marshmallows and sprinkles. Mrs. Robinson taught about "Mexicans in Oklahoma" and danced for the children.
We look forward to next year's Spanish Festival!
