First grade students have been learning about foods through many activities including a decorating contest with one of their favorite vocabulary words, "La Calabaza" (the pumpkin). Students wrote the Spanish word for "the pumpkin" and then became very creative in decorating their calabazas. As a celebration for doing such a great job, the children enjoyed eating "pumpkin" colored cupcakes!!!!!
