2nd Grade Spanish Students Learn About Roberto Clemente
Part of the curriculum for our second grade Spanish students is to learn about famous Hispanic Americans. To begin the unit, students listened to the teacher read a book called "I Am Roberto Clemente" by Jim Gigliotti. Roberto Clemente was a famous baseball player from Puerto Rico. Students were amazed to find out that he had 3,000 hits in his baseball career. They were even more impressed by the dedication he had helping others. He was only 37 when he lost his life in a plane crash enroute to Nicaragua to help earthquake victims. Students colored portraits of him, made baseball cards, and completed a short question/answer exercise covering the important facts about him. I will be posting pictures of their baseball cards. They did an amazing job!
