PK students are learning about all types of foods. To introduce this lesson, students were taught the pronunciation of many food items. Not only did they 'speak' the Spanish food names, but they were given toy foods to touch and play games with. Later in the week, students were provided green, yellow, and red apples. We reviewed the colors of the apples and the word for apple 'la manzana'. Our seventh grade Spanish buddies in Sra. Chalé's class came to our room and helped serve the PK students slices of apples as we discussed them. Our buddies ate apple slices with us! Students not only learned the name of an apple in Spanish, but also discussed their favorite ones. Next week we will be expanding our study of foods by enjoying 'ensalada' - salad!
