Sixth and Second Grades Combine to Do "Country in a Bag" Project

Students in Sra. Chalé's sixth grade Spanish class and Sra. Stafford's second grade Spanish class (2-H) have been working together the past few weeks on a special project.  Each sixth grade student is a team leader of one or two second graders.  Each team chose a Hispanic country to study.

Each team was given a large brown grocery sack to label and decorate with items such as their country's name, the flag from their country, a map of the country with landmarks such as famous rivers, mountains, lakes, etc. labeled, three famous landmarks, and three famous places.  The children were also asked to make puppets of famous people from their Hispanic countries.  Items such as baseballs, soccer balls, coffee beans, bananas, etc. representing their country could be included in the bag, as well.

Next week on Tuesday and Thursday, we will be presenting our "Countries in a Bag" and the sixth grade will be bringing a food from their country for all of us to sample.
