Third Quarter Extremely Busy In All Spanish Classes
The third quarter has been so busy in all of the Spanish classes. PK has learned about the weather, and has listened to many Hispanic legends, folktales, and fairy tales. Students have learned about the various Spanish-speaking countries the stories have come from while visualizing them on maps. Kindergarten is busy working on a calendar to give to their parents. They have learned that in English we capitalize the names of months, but in Spanish we do not. First grade has been busy writing the days of the week on construction paper strips in order to form a paper chain. Students have learned that in Spanish the days of the weeks are not capitalized, but in English they are. We will be singing our "Days of the Week" song while touching each day of the week on our chains. Paper chains will be taken home this week. Second grade just finished their family trees. Each child created a tree and labeled it with immediate family members' names, including grandparents (abuelos). These posters are displayed in the hallway of the Fine Arts Building. Finally, third grade is working on descriptive paragraphs. We began with descriptive adjectives. Now students are pulling everything they have learned together by forming paragraphs that describe an object, themselves, and a friend. Pictures will be posted to the blog very soon!
