Second grade Spanish students are working diligently this quarter to learn to recite "The Sign of the Cross" while crossing themselves properly. They are also learning our school prayer, "Mary, Queen of All Saints, Pray for Us." Finally, they will be learning "The Blessing Before a Meal." Students have learned the words of the prayers by 'echoing' the teacher, practicing reading the prayers while using the sounds of the Spanish alphabet, and by writing the prayers. On Wednesday, December 18th, we will celebrate the successful completion of this religion unit by having an ice cream sundae party!
Third grade Spanish students learned to recite the prayers last year, and have been reciting the prayers since then. This year, students are learning to write the prayers in Spanish. We will celebrate the successful completion of the third grade religion unit by having a breakfast donut party the morning of Wednesday, December 18th.
I am very proud of my second and third grade Spanish students!
