Third Grade Using Bilingual Dictionaries

Students in third grade are learning how to use a bilingual dictionary!  We have spent the last couple of weeks going back and forth between the English and the Spanish sides of our dictionaries.  Students have created "personal dictionaries" in the back sections of their spirals to use for recording words they have looked up.  Each student's dictionary will contain words chosen by that particular student.  Students are required to find 18 new words each quarter.  Not only do they record the Spanish word and its meaning, but they must also write what page number of the dictionary it was found on.  I am so proud of the children!  We have almost mastered the use of guide words already!
